Welcome to...
Hi! I’m Gemma…
…the sleep-deprived, coffee-fueled, potty-mouthed, brain-fogged mom behind this space. Former mental health professional, teacher, patriotic Scot, and lover of adventure, Cadbury’s Dairy Milk, Jake Gyllenhaal, and any night the kids are in bed by 8pm (a rarity!).
Being a mom of two, I’ve been fortunate to have the experience of having babies in two different countries at opposite ends of the globe. Second time around, being a little more experienced (yet feeling just as clueless!), I was shocked at the lack of postpartum support for mothers in Vancouver. Juggling a newborn and a toddler (which as some of us know, is a whole other challenge!), coupled with what can only be described as undiagnosed postpartum depression, I was overwhelmed, depleted, and living in complete survival mode. Vancouver moms, especially new moms, deserve more. It was time to take things into my own hands…
Helping moms build community, prioritize wellness, navigate shifting identities, and thrive during motherhood.
Like many of you, I’ve stumbled, laughed, and cried my way through the chaos of motherhood while desperately googling, “Is this normal?”. The MotherFlock was born out of my desire to create a growing community & essential resource hub for new moms in Vancouver… somewhere where moms can connect, learn, and laugh about the wild ride of matrescence. Whether you’re here for advice, camaraderie, or looking for some inspiration and support in finding your identity in motherhood, you’ve found your flock—and we’re so glad you’re here.
